Following Jesus In A World of Chaos
by Dr. Russell M. Morrow
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6.
At the end of the gospel message, we will find the resurrection and the ascension stories of Jesus. The reality is that these two stories naturally challenge human intellect. Especially, for those whose faith and trust in Jesus comes in 2nd to their faith and trust in the world. For them, the resurrection and ascension of Jesus as the answer to our world in chaos is difficult to accept.
I believe one of the reasons why a good number of people young, old, and in between are indifferent to Christ message, is because they rely on the digital, technological, social, and cultural resources that ,diminished the relevancy of Christianity in their public discourse and augment a culture of pride, power, and self-satisfaction. Yet! the Gospel Story was given to humanity to show us how to live in a healthy relationship with God, each other, and with ourselves, not by compulsion but by free will and the grace of God.
The truth is, however, that free will that is not tempered by the love of God leads to chaos, tragedy, and the sorrows of humanity. We see this all around us. Nevertheless, the good news is that Jesus is God’s gift of grace to all humanity. God has given humanity a perpetual invitation to follow Jesus as the way and the truth to a more abundant life. Accepting this invitation will lead us to the quality of life God intended for all humanity. Regardless of where you are in life’s journey and how the chaos of this world is affecting you, in Jesus, you will find what you need to live the quality of life as God intended for us from the beginning.
Thank you for life and thank you for your son Jesus who showed us with his life, how to live our lives in right relationship with you. Help us open our heart, mind, and soul to receive the wonders of your wisdom, that will influence our knowledge and understanding. For your wisdom will enable us to live, love, and serve, in such a way that heaven and earth will connect right where we are, through our words and deeds. All to your glory and honor, in Jesus’s name. Amen
